The Bob Newhart Connection
Rumor has it that the producer of the show grew up in these parts and came to the Waybury for special occasions. When the concept in Hollywood came about he "knew just the place" to shoot the opening scenes and exterior shots. The show ran from 1982 - 1990, so if you come, we've got some memorabilia from the show such as the "Minute Man Cafe" sign used in the dining room and the "Stratford Inn" sign used as the facade of the Inn. So don't be looking for Stephanie coming down the stairs behind the desk, as there are none.
Bob himself has never been with us, but the characters that played "Larry, Daryl & Daryl" have been
as well as Bob's personal secretary who was kind enough to have Bob send this recent photo (Tracey is one of the owners)
Here is a little "Newhart" trivia for you, name the character who played Bob's wife in the first show, OK, now name the character who played the handyman in the second show, guess what? They were married to each other from 2001 until Tom passed away in April of 2007.
Suzanne Pleshette & Tom Poston
