Fishing:
There is a great variety of fishing opportunities in and around
Middlebury, you could find landlocked salmon, large and small
mouth bass and trout of many varieties.  Before you venture out
you must have a current Vermont fishing license, which
you can purchase at general stores, town offices,
sporting good stores, or even online from VT fish and wildlife.

We have partnered with Stream and Brook Fly Fishing to offer our
guests full and half day guided tours, they know where the fish are
and what fiies to use depending on the time of year.  They also
provide fly fishing schools and fly casting seminars.  Whether you
are new to the sport or an old pro they can provide great tips and
knowledge of the sport.  They also can provide all gear that you need. 
 

Golfing:
There are two golf courses within 15 minutes of the Inn,
Ralph Myhre golf course at Middlebury College
(a good walking course) or the Neshobe Golf Club
(you'd have to be a billy goat to walk this course).
Also located within 30 minutes away is Basin Harbor Club
(another great walking course).

Hiking:
Since the Waybury Inn is nestled at the base of the Green Mountain
National forest, there are many great trail for hiking.  A favorite
for locals is the hike to Silver Lake.  The trailhead is located off of
Route 53 just past Branbury State Park, about a 10 minute drive from
the Inn.  Once you reach the top, you are rewarded with great views,
nothing is better than on a hot day jumping into the lake to refresh after
such a adventurous hike.  There are several places for picnics, so make
a day of it.

Other hikes close by are Snake Moutain, Texas falls, Abbey Pond,
and Robert Frost just to name a few.  Keep in mind that we can pack a
picnic lunch for you to enjoy as you explore the wonder of the Green
Mountains.
